What is a Domain Name?
A domain name is an individual and unique name made up by a string of numbers and letters that end in .Com, .Co.Uk, etc.
You can use any name you can think of for a domain name if nobody else has it. Most people make up a string of letters, Numbers and words to make up a company name.
What are .uk's and .com's?
.co.uk's are names for commercial and personal web sites in the UK and .com's are for commercial and personal web sites in the United States but .com's are also use for companies trading world wide. The most popular out of the two are the .com's with over 3 million now registered.

How do I use quick search?
To use quick search all you need to do is type in the domain name you want (your-name) without the www. and the domain extension (.co.uk .com) then click on the search button.
What is total search
Total search is a facility that allows you to search all the domains for one word. Example if you typed in your-name as the domain name you wanted it would check all the extensions (.co.uk .com. etc) and then give you a list of the available ones.
What is a shopping cart?
The shopping cart allows you to store domain names you have found without having to purchase them straightaway. When you find a domain name you like if you press the add button it will add it to your shopping cart and then you can look for another name. (If you add a name you can remove it later) When you go to purchase the names you have added to the shopping cart all you need to do is tick the boxes next to each of the names you want and then click the purchase button.
What words should I use to make my domain name?
You can use any name you can think of for a domain like your company name www.mycompany.co.uk but if that has been registered you could try www.my-company.co.uk.

When you place an order with Total Domains, the information you supply to us will become a vital part in registering your domain name with the appropriate registry. The 2-year registry fee, charged by the various registration authorities around the world, is covered by your payment and Total Domains will pay this on your behalf.
What is Web Forwarding?
Web forwarding is when someone types in your domain name and it transfers them to another domain name on the web. It is useful because if you already own some web space then you can get your new domain name to point to it.
What is Domain Parking?
Domain parking means that we hold your purchased domain name for you until you wish to use it.
How do I transfer/move my domain name?
We can transfer your domain name to another Internet Service Provider (ISP) with its appointed Name Server information free of charge. Please note that once a domain name has been transferred we would no longer be able to offer many of our forwarding services. To Transfer your domain name to another ISP, please fax us on headed paper with all the details you need us to change. You will need an invoice number for identification and security purposes.
What if I have my own Name Server information?
When you buy a domain name from Total Domains, you have the option to specify your own Name Servers which may be that of another Internet Service Provider (ISP). This is fine and completely free of charge. Simply give us the primary and secondary server hostname and netaddress. If you have a third, you may specify this and it is recommended that you do, but it is not necessary.
